When people hear about a men's clothing brand, they often assume it was founded by men. Imagine their surprise when a woman steps forward as one of the faces and voices of the brand.
My husband and I share a profound passion for creativity, each bringing our unique yet complementary perspectives to our business. He is the contemplative artist, while I am the dynamic doer. He dives deep into creativity, and I ensure the coherence and meticulously tend to every detail.
True growth and development arise from relentless hard work and unwavering focus. Our mission is to reach the highest standards in our business, driven by our unwavering belief in its potential and our faith that we are here for a purpose, not merely pleasure. For me, serving our Lord means also embracing each day as if it were my last in every aspect of life and setting an example for our future generations that you can reach great heights by the will of Allaah.
Our roots run deep in immigrant soil. We watched our grandparents and parents toil endlessly for mere pennies, their greatest hope being that we would achieve more, live better lives, serve others, and leave the world better than we found it.
My faith is my beacon, inspiring every facet of my life, both personal and professional. I no longer compromise on it, because through my personal and professional journey, I have realized:
“When it is safe and accepted to be fully yourself, the foundation is laid for a rich and fruitful harvest.”
That’s why Mastoor has a vision to be that safe haven and healthy foundation where you can develop yourself and be of service to the community.
As second- and third-generation immigrants, we speak out more boldly than our humble predecessors. We navigate a society rife with discrimination based on faith and race, often feeling we don’t fully belong unless we assimilate, constantly battling the exclusionary mechanisms ingrained in the system. It meant hiding or suppressing parts of ourselves or fighting against a system that wasn’t as inclusive as it pretends to be. This eventually led to the realization: “This isn’t it... This is not the environment I will be blossoming in.”
Battling a system that directly and indirectly resists acceptance of all people is futile. Instead, plant as many seeds as you can. Water and nurture it with the right care and relish your own harvest. Dream, pray, connect, work hard, and build. Build your own community where you and others can truly belong.
