Ali Akbar "Sabr" T-Shirt – 50+ Years in Saint-Germain-des-Prés | Limited Edition White Tee
€59,99Sabr — for Ali Akbar, the last newspaper seller of Paris
Since 1973, one voice has carried the news through the café terraces of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Ali Akbar came to Paris from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and began selling newspapers by hand. More than fifty years later he is the last newspaper hawker in Paris, and the day starts the same way: papers under his arm, his call ringing out across Boulevard Saint-Germain: "Ça y est!"
This limited edition of 50 white T-shirts honours that half-century: rain, cold, empty days and full ones, and coming back every morning anyway. In Arabic this is called sabr (صبر): patient endurance, holding steady when it would be easier to stop.
